Facts About The Cochran School Of Nursing

The Cochran School of Nursing is a hospital-based nursing school established more than a hundred years ago in 1894 at the St. John's Riverside Hospital in Westchester County, New York. It is the largest nursing school in the county with over 300 students currently enrolled and over 2000 graduates.

The Cochran School of Nursing program accepts students who are in their first level of study to become registered nurses as well as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who wish to further their education and pursue a license as a Registered Nurse. The Cochran School of Nursing has a pass rate of over 90% in the State Board of Nursing.

The Cochran School of Nursing offers a two-year nursing program designed to prepare students for licensure as registered nurses. Since Licensed Practical Nurses do not have to take fundamental nursing courses, they are able to complete the program in 13 months. Nursing majors who graduate from the Cochran School of Nursing will receive an Associate Degree in Applied Science. In addition, the school's program is integrated with Mercy College to aid students as they seek higher education.

Those seeking to enroll at the Cochran School of Nursing, may complete the online application way or download an application form from the website and send it to the school via regular mail. Along with the completed application form, applicants must also write and send an admission essay expressing your interest and motivation to study and practice nursing. There is also an application fee of $25.00.

Once the Admissions Office has received your documents, the applicant would need to present all official transcripts of your high school and college education as well as complete all other pre-requisites. The applicant must then arrange to take the school's Nursing Exam Test. If the applicant passes the test, the next stage would be the admissions interview. The Admissions Office will then notify all successful applicants in writing once the Applications Committee has determined outcomes of the application process.

The Cochran School of Nursing has nursing theory classes and clinical practice sessions during the day designed for full time students as well as during the evenings and on Saturdays to accommodate the requirements of other students who may not be obtainable for day studies.

The students of Cochran School of Nursing get clinical education and training from top hospitals in the Westchester County area such as St. John's Riverside Hospital, Westchester Medical Center, and Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley among others.
